Just like every morning, Enzeru got out of bed, cleaned herself up, and began her exercises. Over the past week she had regained most of her physical strength. However, there was always a feeling something important was missing from her daily routine. Her exercises felt empty, incomplete, as if she was only training a small part of herself. This was not the only emptiness she felt. The constant nagging feeling that there was supposed to be someone there beside her ate away at her heart and mind, gnawing and chewing at her in urgency as if she was supposed to do something about it. She had no idea what to do about it, not yet anyway.
There had been some progress in her memories, but not much. The prevalence of the color red seemed to strike her as odd, as did the emotions attached to it. It didn’t always have a foreboding feeling, rather a calming and friendly feel, as if she were safely guarded by an invisible caring hand. Another strange revelation, was that she preferred the company of males and found stereotypical females annoying. Once during the week it was recommended she attempt swimming, however, she only discovered a fear of deep water.
A knock on the door pulled her from the deep reflection she had fallen into as she attempted to meditate. “Come.” She stood and crossed her arms, waiting for the stranger to enter. The same doctor from before entered, the nurse in tow. He had been caring for her since she arrived here, even though she was far from in critical condition. It was strange to her for some reason, but didn’t bother questioning.
“Good news, Enzeru. You seem stable enough to go on your way, however, your lack of memories still troubles me. If you can’t go back to your old life you should probably work on making a new one. I know of a guy who would be perfect to help you get back to something that resembles normal.” The doctor handed her a business card as the nurse strapped a blood pressure monitor on her and began a check up of her vitals as soon as she was done, the doctor sent her away. His next words were hushed and carefully chosen. “I saw the fight you were in. These shadow things came out and tried to grab you. You used fire on them and they fled, along with a strange man in a black hood. After that you passed out. You have a talent for magic and the man I am sending you to can teach you how to use it again. Tell no one about this, I’d rather not become a target for whoever was after you.”
“I would like to say I understand, but I don’t. I will go see this person, maybe they can make things a bit more clear.” With that she packed what few belongings she had before checking herself out of the hospital. Her next stop was at a dojo, one she had never heard of before. That didn’t surprise her in the least, this whole world seemed weird to her.
